Toyota 22r Hard to Start When Hot (Simple fixes)
Hey,
I have written about my 86 Toyota 4wd Truck project before. This article is going to be explaining about how to fix the problem of a hard start when Hot, Hot soaked, Ect.
One could be the carb is sticking in the cold start(the choke is engaged) putting too much fuel into engine.
Could be due to a worn set of ingnition points. This reduces the distance the points move to each spark plug.
If you have a timing light check the degrees of the timing. If it gets off a few degrees it will be harder to start. Is your truck using more fuel than before this problem happened?
The sticking chock will put too much gas in engine. Can sometimes mean you may have another carburetor
problem. If you do tune up and it is time for a full parts replacement. Go with removing and replacing spark plugs, ignition points and rotor, distributor cap, and fuel filter. While your at it see if it needs spark plug wires, air cleaner filter, and maybe a vacuum line *or* two. If cracks are visible on the spark plug wires *or* vacuum lines definately replace them. If your truck has gone far enough in milage it might be recomended in service manual to replace other parts at different milages. I do not have a 22r *or* 22re so you will to do much more to figure out problem in this area. I”m willing to help you more as needed. But since I”m not there to see what is happening it makes it a little bit harder to know what you are up against.
